A design of floating airplane furniture and cabin concept are among the winners of crystal cabin awards this year. This could give each passenger their own personal fridge.

In Hamburg Germany at a ceremony at 2022 aircraft interiors Expo and the honored aviation awards were announced. It highlights revolution and creativity in airplane interiors.

A team of experts in the industry spent a whole day questioning each submission before reaching their decision. It was said by Lukas, the president of crystal cabin award association, while speaking to CNN travel at the awards. He also said that judges considered the reactions coming from the potential passengers and airlines. They also debate about the creativity of their ideas.

Not all of the products that are finalized are on the market and they still concepts the most basic question. They asked the jury whether it was something to fly. Said by Kaestner.

After many discussions the 24 finalists were cut down to 8 winners Teague and NORDAM’S Elevate cabin design. It visualizes a cabin with premium opportunities such as floating seats and this becomes the top in cabin concept categories. 

Teague’s team while speaking to CNN traveled at AIX and it explained the concept behind the idea. They said that it was to open up more space in the cabin by attaching furniture to a track. It is connected to the sidewall and asile.

This idea was started by the Teague team when the designers were chatting over a beer and three years ago they also realized the problem of how to free up the space without taking the seats out. 

Passenger comfort was given to Collin Aerospace’s passenger fridge called Space Chiller and they are inspired by air shield devices. Collins’ claim was that the fridge would use half the power from the traditional airplane fridge design and it was made by a crystal cabin jury interested. The fridge potential was scaled up and down. Judges allowed for the mini version to be reached by potential passengers.

The crystal cabin awards sees interest in submission crop up in the university category. The next generation of flying designers offer their take on the future of flying. 

Kaestner told CNN travel that it is interested in nominees and they want to see where this category ends up.

This year’s student winner is Ken Kirtland and he dreamed up an electric aircraft called Portal. This will fly at lower altitude.

Portal’s most eye-catching interiors also helped in Kirtland’s win and the idea of premium seats marked around the cabin.

Faulty electronics can go wrong resulting in midair fire. Cordillera emergency oxygenation system which uses breathing technology to allow airplanes to reach near airports without any problem.
